Quick question, simple answer, (I hope)

When I last MOT'ed my 109 1972 ser 3 camper they put it down as a 2 seater

Now I have a need to put people in the back I have a couple of questions..

Do I have to inform anyone that I have started carry more then 2 people in the land rover?

I have built in bench seats (that convert to a double bed), should I just sit people on these or do I need to fit Landy bench seats instead?

And just to confirm, I don't need seat belts do I ?

(OK had to ask the last one)

Many thanks Andy

yep good point,

What about the DVLA etc. If plod sees me with the kids in the back and pulls up my details will it say 2 seats and i get a tug?

You will have to tell your insurance company
why??

If it's got bench seats you can carry people in the back Bench seats don't require seatbelts in fact Law prevents you from using belts on side facing seats for children.

Dont worry about side facing seats , they only put 2 down as thats all it had at time of test , anyway you dont need seat belts for side facing seats .

when you get insured they ask you how many seats

they also usually ask you if it's had any mods, so even if they don't ask how many seats, it is a modification.

you don't legally need a seat to carry a person. so you can easily carry someone on the wheel arches in the back of a 90/110. The bench seats simply make it more comfortable The law doesn't define what makes a seat. simply says the person has to be carried securely.

My old discovery had rear side facing seats with belts, are children therefore not permitted to travel in them?

no they are not not permitted to travel in them. It's fine, although i'd be a bit worried about the safety aspect! (saying that, i drive mine round in mine and they love it, but i don't really go over about 40!)
