My P reg 4.6 has just failed the MOT for two reasons that I hope are interconnected. Just ahead of the rear box (single pipe, not double) there's a gaping hole in the exhaust, so it failed for that, also the Lambda reading was too high - 1.180 was the lowest.

I'm hoping that the new exhaust will decrease the Lambda to allow it to pass but I'm worried that the actual Lambda sensors might be playing up, any idea?

If it helps, the CO2 readings were 0.07% and 0.05% for each of the two fast idle tests.

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Many thanks for the reassurance, I was sure that the fault was with the hole in the system, not least because the probe was still inserted at the tailpipe and was not getting a full burst of exhaust gases.

I've managed to find a replacement rear box for £70 inc P&P from a company called Island 4x4, incidentally it's £18 cheaper on their own website than their ebay listing for some reason.

Yeah I bought a centre box from them for my P38 this week. Fitted it, and voila! it blew like a goodun. Ruddy pin hole in the welding round the back of the box pipe exit. So had to drive a 100 mile round trip to get it changed. Britpart exhausts suck! or rather blow!

Make a warranty claim for it and push for payment.Dont give up on it,as a LR garage owner I get very fed up with poor quality parts causing issues like this.Go for it !

Same response - one day it will get sorted out.
Cant help thinking that if everyone did as well as they can, using the best they can that we would all be better off.(And more fulfilled in life too.)
