Failed the MOT on a few things today, mainly the PAS area, so a few questions folks.

The main seal which the drop arm comes off is fooked and the swivel joint on the end of that anorl, from what i can gather it's a balls ache to get the arm off, so is it worth just grabbing a recon unit with arm attached?

Paddocks do one:

NTC1580RARM PAS box with drop arm - 4 bolt - recon - RHD (sold on an exchange basis - price includes 100.00 GBP exc. VAT surcharge)

I assume i remove mine, send it off ( with arm ) and pay for the difference of the recon unit? Anyone done this? ( gonna ring em anyway )

Cheers

Buster has done a thread on how to do this job. As for the exchange basis. I would have thought the delivery driver would take the old unit off you. But as it's Paddocks they'll probably expect you to send yours in at your cost and then they'll refund the difference back onto which ever card you used to pay for the recon box.

Just rang the local LR place, they will do a recon for £125 ( with old one intact ) so it's going to be easier for me to get a mate to drop me over there and pick a recon up.

I read buster's guide ( for the pump, not box ), but knowing my Landy, i'm certain the drop arm will refuse to budge with what tools i have.

Another area of failure was the NS headlight too low, now i was aware this could be a problem due to the knock the front area took from the previous owner. My efforts to straighten it out obviously weren't good enough and the way the front corner is bent it's going to be a pain to straighten further, however i'm one for giving it a go.

Any tips on aligning the headlight and what to use as a reference?

;)Youre probably right Paul a few weeks ago i did the drop arm joint and my best puller wouldnt shift the arm.LR 90/110 manual shows a big 2 legged puller but i dont have one and did it insitu no probs.£125 sounds agood deal tho.If your wing is really bent you might need to straighten it a bit so the little screws inthe light rim can fine tune it:)

I was considering straightening the wing abit more with the help of a hammer n various tools, it's getting it to align properly before using the screws for fine adjustment.

Any tips on that would be good ;)

:)Ive had sucess using an old screw jack and bits of wood braced into/under the wheel arch.Set a flat plank in front of the metal youre jacking tospread the load. You can wind the jack slowly so you get good control. Its brutal but i am a farmer not a panelbeater:D

never had problems with oil filled steering damper, if your other h/light aim is correct just have your 90 face onto a garage door etc and measure the height and set the damaaged one the same
