can you elaborate on that a bit more,? does that mean it was actually registered from new with a crane, reason i am asking i am in the process of building a lwb pickup and i am going to build a crane on the back, i have done this before on a swb and it worked very well

the one i saw was item no. 150757555601.
but with so many think i should speak to dvla because a company has offered 2 1/2k for the cherished plates so if i can tax without mot this will more than fund the rest of the resto! and hopefully get proper age plates into the bargain!

Mot exempt recovery vehicles are a whole world of mine fields if you have a spec lift or a lift that supports either the front or back of another vehicle (so no flat beds as these can carry other loads) you can get exempt status but only if its sole purpose in life is to recover ie. you cant just nip to the shops or to your mates in it as this is not what its purpose is however there is a small loophole if you own your own recovery buisness you can use it for other journeys as long as you are on 24 hour callout to speed the recovery process up its really not worth the hassle and what the benifits you get to drive what could be a death trap on the road ? There are hundreds of recovery trucks advertised as mot exempt when they really need a mot the law on them are very confusing tractors ,heavy plant ,crains ,mobility scooters/vehicles less the 307kg and vehicles used to get from the one plot of the owners land to another driving less than six miles on a road per week are also exempt?also if your in a crash because of a fault ie brake failure on your mot exempt vehicle you will be in a whole world of **** with insurace refusing to pay out unless you can prove the vehicle have been properly maintained and inspected

Why all the excitement because it does not need an mot which costs £30 around here,it still has to be of road worthy condition and has limited mileage so over a year it will be a grand saving of just £30.
Unless someone intends to drive a rotten junk of ****e illegally on the road which is a risk to themselves and other road users I dont see the attraction.

was only interested because car needs tax to transfer the cherished plate which could have been nice to fund the build but think well just hit the plastic! am an mot tester and always the plan to get it to that standard before putting it to use anyway!

if your a tester you can just mot it and not use it till your finished then mot it agane so you can sale your plates on tofund your bulkhead

il ignore that lol! plus im at a main dealer so lots of eyes on me.
If it says recovery on the v5 and the plate is tranferable then there is not need for a mot to sell the plate

I had an experience selling a plate off a Morris Minor. Do not transfer the plate to them until you are paid. More than likely they will offer to sell it for you, minus commission etc and you will only get £300.
