mot advisory

just wanted to share my experience. Took my totally standard 2004 reg freelander for mot yesterday it passed but had a advisory. Under trays fitted obscuring some underside components. Has anyone else had this.my freelander is totally standard nothing extra bolted on it

It's relatively common. As I understand it's basically the MOT tester covering their own backside, by advising that they were unable to visually inspect some areas of the car due to the under trays covering them (testers cannot remove the trays as part of an MOT). For example they might not be able to see an oil leak etc

This has cropped up a few times now but it's not uncommon these days for under trays to be fitted. My past 5 (since 1998) VW Passat's have all had them (full closure) and never an advisory. I just wonder with the FL one being aluminium and most others plastic, maybe the tester thought it was an add-on?
