Hi,

I would be a little concerned about leaving UK on 23 December, and expecting to get the Algeciras to Cueta ( or Tanger Med) ferry by as soon as Christmas day.

From UK to Algeciras is a fair old trek just for starters if your driving yourself.

Hope the LR holds up, and no break downs.

is finally home after a very stress full couple of days, unfortunately our landrover is not with us and is in a recovery yard in montpellier in the south of france with a fooked gearbox and that is all i have got to say today!

well apart from the fact that adrian flux has some of the best european breakdown rescue i have ever used, they got us back to the uk within 24 hours but the landrover wont be back for another 2-3 weeks - now its time to get ****ed!!!!

Bad news, sorry to here.
Any way, at least you guys are home quick, and you can work out the next plan of action.
So the LR will come back on a flatbed truck or some thing?
Glad you had the recovery, as I guess that would cost some serious cash.
Where where you when it wnt tits up?
Was it heading north on the toll free A75 towards Millau?

i couldn't get the gearbox fixed, was no point really it sounded to me like the main shaft had broken, or at least some gears were broken, plus we had to get back as my wife is back at work today and i am going back tomorrow. quite surprised about the gear box as its a ashcroft one that's only 2 years old, but there you go we made it home in the end and like i said the adrian flux rescue did an amazing job, with in 15 minutes of me calling them a recovery truck turned up and we were taken to a garage and then about 20 minutes later we were in a taxi to the train station, train to Paris and hotel ( not to bad as we went up the effile tower and had a nice night in paris for free) in the morning the taxi took us to the train station were we got the euro star back to London then we picked up train tickets to get us back to barnstaple, only thing we had to pay for was the taxi home and food. i worked it out and it was about 1200 Euros to get us home and the landy is coming back in 2-3 weeks and that is not costing us anything so it was Not all bad, we had a great time in morocco even when i went to turn the key on the landy and the ignition barrel fell apart and i had to rewire the ignition to start on a button oh and the first day we got there the screen on the sat nav shattered so we lost all our way points so we didn't Manage to do much "off roading as they say"

My wife will be doing a small write up soon and i will sort out some pictures.

Pity about the break down. Sods law says it's gonna happen at the most inconvenient time. Hope you were able to enjoy the Morocco bit tho.
