Good morning to all of you. I've just signed up as after this recent burst of bad weather I'm sick of the difficulties in getting about in "normal" cars.
I'm planning towards the end of the year to sell my car and get a discovery 1, most likely a tdi 300 as although I'd love the v8 for its noise and rather blatant "performance" if you can call it an advantage, I would not be happy with the awful mpg.
LPG appeals but I'm worried the reliability won't be as good with the v8, something I will be asking people on here and having a gander at people's threads. I don't want to be fixing it each weekend, that's what I have a ford for.
It seems the tdi 300 can have its 0-60 and general motorway and driving abilities brought to more car like levels with things like decats, egr removal, exhaust and intercoolers, something which I am very interested. I've only got a 325 bmw as a daily at the moment but I don't want to be in a vehicle that I can run faster .
I'm also building a track orientated car and would like a towing vehicle so i don't having to worry about breaking it and not being able to get home and it would be nice to do a bit of off roading, a few friends have defender 90s and they are epic fun in the mucky stuff.
Anyway look forward to getting some advice from people and finding out more about these beasts, sorry for the long baffle of an intro.
Scott
