Ok, I like to be a bit controversial so here goes.

I was driving down the M4 today when I came upon a transporter with 4x4
vehicles on the back.

Judging by the styling I thought they were Japanese, maybe even Korean - But
no, they were Landrover Discoveries !!!

I'm sure that the new Disco will drive well etc, etc - But at least with the
old one you could look at it from a mile away and instantly recognise it,
the new one looks bland and just like the rest of the pack of 4x4 out
there - BORING !!!!

I have got to agree with the original poster. I had a chance to get in one
and look it over up close. They should have put a side door on it and called
it a mini-van. Reminds me of the 1996 GMC Jimmy I almost bought.

Maybe you are from the USA? Nothing this distinctive [ugly?] has been sold
in the UK.
Apart from the back door, it is growing on me. I could maybe even grow to
like the back end given time.

I was in Conwy Land Rover today and they had four there - and to be honest I
preferred the TD5's that were there - it just looks like you cant do any
mods on it ! once you've bought it that's it! plain slab sided. IMO the
sides are too straight looks just like one big flat panel one small ding on
there and it would look bad !.

But like the Defender, lots of major and minor dings will improve it
wonderfully.

I had a good nose around at a dealer this afternoon and I like it. This one
was a top of the range diesel auto in silver with a nice light tan interior
and dark walnut facia and dash end caps. If it goes anything like as refined
as the Jag I had a test drive in later, then it will show the BMW engined
Range Rover up to be very lorry like.
