I have recently fitted a 200Tdi engine, a rear door stoplight, and a rear door grab-handle to my 1989 turbo-diesel 110. Can I now call it a Defender...? I have the decal ready to go on!

Does it have a SVA certificate calling it a Defender ? (No)

You call your 110 What you like :) think a Defender was just a rebadged 110 with a few modifications just don't tell everyone.

On the legal side you may have a few problems at MoT or Taxation or resale if you stick "Defender" on it and it's not (Different Chassis Coding)

Hope this helps

My 200tdi-engined 3-dr tax-exempt Range Rover is still a 3-dr tax-exempt Range Rover. It has a V8 badge on its a**e.
My Golfs have all been de-badged. One of my 109"'s has 90 doors.AFAIC (As Far As I'm Concerned), they're still what the log book says. As far as changing a door handle and fitting an extra brake light, you can't polish a turd.....
(cue flames)
I'm fitting extra reversing lights to a Golf. They work off a switch and are rated 100/80w. Maybe I should call it a Flog..... ;)
