Probably about right for the belt and clutch, depending on quality of work.

Sounds loads too much for the oils and filters on a Tdi! :)

I thought the same, timing belt seemed fine, wasn't sure on the clutch. Oil did seem steep, I actually had to get the guy to repeat himself on that bit :p

Quite a bit of work in changing a lr clutch, and I shouldn't think a top quality clutch is cheap these days. Pleased to say I haven't had to buy one for a while.

They may have priced it with all synthetic oils, they are expensive, but not actually well suited to that vehicle, Try and find someone to do it with mineral oils, that is what it was designed for, and loads cheaper too. ;)

Or they may just be rip-off artists, it is not unknown. :(

Have you never been? Make sure you make it the West Lakes :) (The real Lakes!) :D

No never! I'm a yorkshurr so usually go to the dales! In staying in Kirkland Village and intent to hike around Haystacks and Wasdale etc :)

Thanks! I contacted Fultons in Workington, they couldn't even weld me any panels on bottom of the doors, also prices seemed a tad steep

£250 for new timing belt and fitting
£450 for new clutch and fitting
£350-400 for all round oils and filters (that price better be including the diff etc :D)

Maybe those prices aren't that bad at all?

I'll give Gibsons a call tomorrow :)

Welcome to the madhouse.:)

Just had my 110 td5 full service , full fluids change and filters for £200

Well make sure you get up Great Gable, easily one of the best hikes in the Lakes, with one of the best views! Far more interesting that the overhyped and overbusy Scafell Pike :)

I'm frequently up there on my litter picking sessions for the National Trust :D

Thanks for the tip! If you see a tired looking person running after a chocolate lab, that will be me!

Anyway, more importantly.... Good pubs?

Nice rustic old pub at the end of the valley, Wasdale Head Pub, good for dogs and moody boots etc. They have open fires etc.

Also Strands Inn in Nether Wasdale is really good too, they are equipped with their own ales from their own micro-brewery.

Can't go wrong with either of them :)

Welcome to the forum. As a series landy owner it's not often I see a 90 I like. Nice colour n early series with vents. Hope u enjoy chugging round the lakes!

I have to admit, the colour is what attracted me to it in the first place, the engine and the chassis is what sold it to me :p

How did U.S. Forest Service Green get to be a Landy Heritage colour? Makes no sense.

Its more likely that US forest service copied the colour that was used by Land rover , as that was war surplus , aircraft internal green . ;) (well our aircraft , dont know about your stuff )

BTW welcome to LZ hope you have a strong personality :)

:welcome: and good purchase! parts are cheap for these bad boys but there are parts and there are parts, dont scrimp on the main essentials, namely the clutch.
If getting it replaced (is it playing up? ) get complete set not just the friction plate, last owner of mine paid loads of labour to get just the friction plate changed and left the old fork and release bearing in! crazy.
Consumables such as service kits and most else are crazy cheap, try paddock spares for most things as have not had any probs with them
Shop around but if in doubt ask on here always someone with the know in the area :)

I certainly don't intend to skimp, I need this to keep me going no matter what the weather. Yeah the clutch doesn't quite feel right at the moment and I can't find information of the last clutch replacement, so having it checked just to be safe, same with timing belt and oils and filters :)

And all the other Mog books :D

Talking of night time japes, I have a lot of fun freaking out tourists by lighting up my old oil lamps and walking slowly around the lake, gently swinging it. I want to get a period drama outfit to freak people out even more :D
