Going to fit a standard 90 hard top and sides for winter on my ex military 90 that has canvas hood. Does anyone know if I will need to change the windscreen surround or will a hard top fit using the same holes as the clamps that hold the hood at the front? Has any one else done this? are there any other issues or is it straight forward?

Have you tried the canvas in the winter? Only was going to do the same thing but ended up not - the canvas is surprisingly warm compared to a tin top, less secure maybe but not colder!

If you haven't tried it you might be surprised.

In any case, no, you will need to change the header rail on top of the windscreen

I have a hard top, but have previously had rag tops....rag top is better in winter IMHO......just remove the clamp rail from the top of the screen frame and bolt the hardtop on....

Cheers all
I have had the rag top on through 3 winters now and had no probs with it.
Probably will prefer it to a hard top but just thinking of preserving the canvas lifespan by fitting hard top in winter.
If I get one cheap enough I will give it a try but sounds like it may end up as a chicked hut.

A decent fitting canvas is warmer than an unlined hardtop plus there are no condensation issues.
Fit a fume curtain and you will be as snug in a bug.

Canvas should last ok through the winter, my current one (supplied by All Wheel Trim) is now 12-years old and still water-tight and the windows are still flexible and clear. Treated it once in all that time, used Fabsil.

My canvas about 30 years old now as original MOD. Canvas is okay and never leaks fabsil does a good job but straps have deteriorated. I like the original look rather than buy a new one. I may try hand sewing new straps to hood or see if I can find a canvas / tarpaulin repairer.

I have replaced a couple of straps on my 12-year old All Wheel Trim soft-top, they are available from the supplier and I found then a doddle to sew on as long as you have the correct needle & thread (I do).

I found some new ex mod hood straps on ebay so ordered 6 last week awaiting delivery, I will have a go and sew them on.
But then yesterday at Peterboro LRO show I found a brand new old stock Exmoor hood still wrapped for £150 and could not resist at that price.
