Missing Pixels on MID unit HSE model

Hi,
I own a RR 2004 HSE which has the MID unit which has lost pixels.......unit is below CD slot and above air controls on centre console.
Has anyone got the same problem?
Or, has anyone got any suggestions for repair other than local rip-off dealer who want over £900 for a re-con version......I would be mad to pay that?
Please help!
