My Defender insurance is due for renewal in 2 weeks - so I contacted AF's office and got a reasonable quote (and took out the optional breakdown cover at the same time)

However, having sent in my proof of no claims I today received a letter telling me that I was entitled to 3 and not the 4 years I'd specified, in spite of being claim free for 10 years (and discussing this at length when I set up the policy) and that my insurance would be increased by £50.

I'm not prepared to pay this extra cost and asked for the insurance and breakdown to be cancelled. I was staggered to hear the 'highly trained' operator tell me that it would cost me £45 because "that was in our terms and conditions and the policy is already set up". What? It doesn't start for two weeks!

If an Adrian Flux rep picks this message up,please make contact via a PM and I'll give you more details, other wise I'll take this sorry episode down the legal route.

Update:

I've just received a slightly stiff phone call from AF. The operator spoke to her manager and they're issuing me with a complete 100% refund.

Result! I won't being using them again though.

you need to talk to jordan a form sponsor. You may have just got a incompetent person. Have you ever had a bad take out? Give them a chance just send a PM to jordan they have fixed a lot of mistakes caused by others. Has your land rover ever ****ed you off, and are you still driving it

Faircot,

Please PM me with your quote reference, or your surname/postcode.

I will get this looked into straight away.

Many thanks

You also want to make sure they will honour your no claims bonus if your only a named driver, that mistake cost me £800.

that will be an issue with your previous insurers small print, its designed to lock in kids that have been driving their parents cars

"Admittedly, some insurers will permit named drivers to earn their own NCD which can be used to get lower car insurance premiums further down the line, but this is usually only the case if you stay with the same insurer. "
