Hi,

This is my fist time posting here and i'd like to thank you for all the info provided in this forum. I'm from Portugal so, sorry my english..

1- Here's my problem,

I have a 1999 Def 90 Td5 with 305.000km runned by me since new and i've never had any engine issue until now.
In fact, my 90 started to misfire (intermitent loss off power) about two months ago in low revs and JUST or MAINLY in cold (first start of the day or after been stoped for a few hours) witch it tend to disapear after a few minutes runing. In hot, the issue is almost imperceptible... It starts well but some times (rarelly) i think it takes a bit longer but i can't swear about this.

I've checked and cleaned the EGR, drained the diesel filter, cleaned allmost plugs under the bonet and air filter, with no success. There's no difference pluging or unpluging the air sensor between the turbo and the air filter housing too. The recent fuel pressure regulator is ok with no leaks.

I've been reading this forum in order to get a clue to my problem and, in fact, i'm getting there because i DO have oil contamination on my ECU red plug witch i've already cleaned but just there...

I'm aware i'll have to replace the injector loom and maybe the injector O rings and washers but i'm intrigued by the fact of this misfiring happening in cold and not in hot... It should misfiring in both situations correct? Could it be a glow plug related issue too? Or perhaps any other thing not related with this?

Any help on this matter will be very well apreciated.

2- I have a good mechanical knowlege on transmitions, diffs, shafts, suspensions and other stuff but i've never worked on engines and i'm woried in the case of when replacing the injector loom, witch i see that's a very easy job, i'd like to replace the injectors O rings and washers aswell, but i'm not sure if this part of the job should be made by me...

My question is, is there any step by step, tutorial or manual with clear info that could allow me to do the work? By the way, it is a sutch a "dificult" work beyond my knowlege because of the degres etc...?

Many thanks in advance for any help you can provide me on this.

Sorry I cannot help you with your misfire problem but I am sure someone here will. Just like to comment that your English is excellent.

My only suggestion is that in my experience, intermittent, cold running problems are usually due to loose or damaged connections in the wiring.

Cheers

Andy
