hi all.

i have recently got a disco 1993 tdi. I would love to take her off road but have yet to make any mods to her. can anyone recomend any areas for a beginner int he area or has anyone tried out Whaddon 4x4 @ Barn hill farm.

Obviously i would like to builld up my expeariance so that i can get to the big stuff one day

First mod is recovery points front and rear. Without these you can be a danger to yourself and others when you get stuck.

Then I would say a decent set of A/T or M/T tyres.

Have a look in the Herts Laners thread, a lot of the guys go to Whaddon on a regular basis and green laning all over from Beds to Cambs to Essex and beyond.

Chippy,

Like Disco01 says, decent Front & rear recovery points are essential.
Then come out with us "Herts Laners" to drive some Green Lanes. We'll keep you safe and make sure you get home afterwards.
Whaddon is great, but it's not really for beginners, whilst there are plenty of easy bits to drive, you can end up in a world of pain if you go astray. You're welcome to tag along next time we go though, we'll show you around, then you can make your mind up if you want to drive it.

I'd go for the laning option first. get a feel for what your disco can do, before you go for the pay & plays. You're much less likely to break things that way.

Cheers Spyder, i will have to take you up on that. I have front bull bar type things that i will prob remove and the prob chuck on a steering gaurd with reovery points. Would the tow bar be ok for the back. Prob come out sometime after payday (end of month) if there is anyone going lanning

Tow bar on the back is fine. A couple of Jate Rings on the front is the best, easiest and cheapest option.

We're always out somewhere, just keep an eye on the Herts Laners thread.
