Hi all,
I have a 2001 Td4 Freelander automatic and recently I have heard a rattle from the engine compartment: It occurs when it feels like it, but once there it increases in intensity - but NOT frequency - when the engine is under load; easing off the throttle and it will subside. I'm told that it could be something simple like the sump plate being loose. The Haynes manual only mentions the tightness of the 'sumpo plate' bolts, but nowhere else in the text is it mentioned. How does one access this, as it appears that it should be a DIY job? (In the past after a service, I experienced an extremely loud rattly noise, amplified by being in an underground car park, ands when taking it back to the service people, they said it was only a loose sump guard and they had tightened it, which seemed to work)
