Is there anyone in the midlands, west midlands specifically who could accommodate me on a greenlane outing? Complete novice to laning, done off road courses but want to get out on the lanes (legally) and see the countryside a bit more and figured it's better to be with someone more experienced first few times. Not interested in ripping it up, I can go local pay n play for that, but definitely be interested in historical lanes/areas of interest.
I'm in a disco td5 standard except for 245/75 all terrains. Basic tools carried, spare coolant and short tow strop with shackles in boot at all times, standard recovery points.

Also if there's anyone fancy meeting up just to chat land rovers or anything else and be really boring my missus would appreciate the rest from it all

Hi Smithy,

Have you considered joining your local 4x4 group / LR owners group, there are normally one or two to be found if you look in your locality or even on FB, or join GLASS as they often have local meets / groups that meet up.

Cheers

Hi neilly
I joined the staffs4x4 forum a while ago. Went to a pay n play at biggin but i was on road biased tyres and it was MENTAL.They were going to have a pay n play day at tickhill quarry which I think has something for everyone but it never happened so I was going to try that on my own.
As far as lanings concerned they did a Warwickshire greenlane day but it was described as really scratchy and recommended vehicles with snorkels, talk about out of my depth

They do little meets, I've seen 1 was mentioned for chasewater which is up the road but sods law I was busy that weekend but that's the only one I've ever seen mentioned.

Not on FB unfortunately (or fortunately) ;) but I'll look into GLASS mate cheers

described as really scratchy

Scratchy is always a concern, some do not mind it,others like to keep their paintwork in good knick, Whatever you do, make sure the person organising it knows if you are concerned about damage, as they might be able to offer a bypass route if they know it is scratchy in sections.

Cheers

Good shout, I don't mind the odd brush with a bush but polishing paintwork ain't my idea of fun :D

To be fair staffs4x4 are pretty good at disclaiming what kind of lanes youre going to encounter from what ive seen on their forum. My main worry is tagging along on something too technical, getting stuck and damaging a lane whilst getting recovered

I'm gonna bump this, if there's anyone on here doesnt mind taking me out with them on some lanes in the midlands. I can't bring myself to sign up to Facebook.

Just want to get shown the ropes responsibly and I don't actually know anyone else with a 4x4 in real life!

Hook your caravan up & come down south to Wiltshire.
I can take you out. Start of May & lanes open.
Lanes round midlands were always short not marked.

Are you laning in a D3 or that shiny Defender? I'm off to North Wales at the end of the month but your paintwork might suffer a little bit........

GLASS rep will advise, and may lead groups in the area.
