Mid box replacement options...

Have any of you tried the TD5ALIVE mid box replacement pipe, with the cherry bomb... it's double the price of a straight through pipe (from M&M), but supposed to reduce the booming, particularly in the 90.

I'm looking to improve mpg/performance... not make a noise, although I think the TD5 could have a nice exhaust note with this mod?

I have gone with the cheap option... sounds great if you're following... but it does boom inside... not sure I like it.... if anyone fancies a straight through mid pipe for a 90 TD5 PM me...

I always wondered if it was worth the extra for the alive pipe, can you update us on here fi you do get the alive one fitted?

Got a straight through 3" bore pipe on mine. No boxes/cats whatsover. Not much louder than normal unless on full throttle and even then its not anti social. No booming inside that I've noticed.

Shifty... have you got soundproofing in yours?... not being funny, but that was next on my 'to-do' list so might see how that works out before condemning the mid pipe...

If you mean by sound proofing some 3/4" ply on the floor and old carpet in the back tub then the answer is yes. Other than that its bog standard CSW spec. Maybe I'm just going deaf in my old age.

It's no good... givin' me a headache, so I've just been on the TD5Alive site and ordered one of Gary's special cherry bombs!... hopefully get it fitted on the weekend, and let you all know if it was worth it....

The cherry bomb pipe came through today... and has been fitted... DEFINITELY worth it, much quieter than the straight though pipe - inside... but still the nice exhaust note outside...

Anyone want a straight through pipe!!?
