I met the designer for the L322 interior last month, we had an interesting conversation.
Our conversation turned to the defender replacement. They raised the point that land rover is very aware of it's following, land rover understands that the defender replacement has to be modular and as able to be "repaired on the side of the road" as it's predecessors. They also noted that it was a great shame that the small details that make a landy what it is, like the front air intake flaps, were removed....
Now from a prominent car designer such as themselves to list all those things may mean less than what I am reading into all this, it may be also a good sign that designers have had these conversations. I don't know but it certainly was an interesting chat.
