Are you lot weak?

I have a 7.50r16 on the bonnet on a wolf wheel - and yes it's heavier than without but it's not 'that' hard to open it or to take it off. Doable for one person (fit and able) certainly.

Tyre on the bonnet does give you a slight blind spot front left but that's it. I like it.

And yeah other than a quick oil check I wouldn't do any work under the bonnet with the tyre on. Make sure you have the solid bar bonnet prop not the **** scissor type one to

I used to have the spare on the bonnet. The previous owner had reinforced the bonnet and fitted the spare wheel bracket from a 90 truck cab - the one that holds the spare against the back of the bulkhead- it's just a plate that is slightly wider than the hole in the wheel and is wound up tight. One day I did a rather quick stop - 50mph - 0 in about 10 meters and ended up facing the opposite way. The spare took out the windscreen. So make sure it's a proper bracket that locates through the wheel stud holes and make sure it's well anchored to the bonnet.

Nick.
