Freelander 2 (LR2) Many thanks

Hi many thanks to all the guys who replied to my heavy steering fault . Appreciate everyone who contributed. Here is my latest update .
I have just finished ( after awaiting parts ) fitting the belt and tensioner etc water pump . On starting up it immediately sounds a lot quieter. As I still have to put the under tray back I backed out of the garage , wasn’t over confident this had resolved the problem. I will however take it out shortly . And try it out . Hi guys , apologies to all but I put my latest update out on conversation !!
As you know I have had the steering fault and gone down the road if changing the cheaper parts first . After having a new pump ( I got for £85 ) it made no difference apart from the £120 to have it done . The garage found out it was the rack that had given up . To cut a long story short after getting s reconditioned rack etc a pipe broke as it was rusty , a new one was needed etc + more pad fluid . The outcome was a bill for £530 . Steering is as should be , nice easy going . So all good many thanks for all the replies you gave me , much appreciated.and no doubt will be back again soon as MOT is on 25/01/19 fingers crossed .Pingboy

Hi guys , hope all is good , latest update for you on the heavy steering thread . As you know got that sorted , and let you know the MOT was next hurdle . Booked it in last Friday, gutted it failed on a couple of things . imbalance on the rear brakes when hand brake applied , and a broken coil spring . Well went back into the garage yesterday for repairs to be done . Ended up having all new brake shoes fitted to solve the imbalance and new coil spring fitted then a retest , job done MOT done total cost £340. With all the other jobs done this month well over a grand spent . Should good now for some time to come . Many thanks again for all the answers I received and advice all appreciated. Will check in again as the help and advice is invaluable .

To be honest, its a good thing you got the rear brakes done. They are often overlooked and can lead to some catastrophic failures. I did mine last year - new shoes, drums, cylinders, springs & clips.
