Manual or Auto

Just sold my 200tdi 90.
Going to buy a discovery.
Do i go Auto or Manual box on a 300tdi?

Towing cows on 20% farm in mud/snow and 80% tarmac use.

who's got which and which do you prefer?

personal choice mate, i prefere autos but thats cos im lazy, peeps will tell you autos cant hold the motor in gear but unless yer comin down snowdon i wouldnt worry,

There are 2 things to consider:
1. the transmission itself
2. the fact that autos have the EDC 300tdi and the manuals have the non EDC engine. That is an electronic controlled engine vs. a mechanical driven one (like you were used on the 200tdi).

I think i'd rather have an auto the sum small tripodic horsey....who really gives a monkeys about mpg difference

it all depends on what you want from the vehicle! if your after a disco to "use and abuse" then go for a manual. If your after something to "lord" it about in, then go for an auto!

love my auto and wouldn't part with it for the world, i tow two whacking great big horses frequently and i had a manual before this one. The auto wins hands down, i'm on Saddleworth moor which has some impressive hills and i've never had a problem, keep your trailer well maintained and jobs a good un.
