Manual gear knob removal

Hello, can someone tell me the correct way to take this off please
There seems to be a difference of opinion on the web.
Is is a straight upward pull.....or does it unscrew.

If you just want to remove the gear knob and it's soft gaitor, then unscrew it anti-clockwise.

If you want to remove the gear lever/knob assembly then you need to undo and remove the nut and bolt which you will find approx half way down the lever, under the soft cover.

Hi af, if you are removing the gear knob to replace the gaiters, bare in mind that the top (knob end - oooh errrr missus!) of the gaiter is help in place with a rubber O-ring on the base of the knob. So be careful not to bust it!

The bottom end of the gaiter is glued onto the plastic frame that locks it in place.
