Manifold heat shields on 4.6, leave off?

Had to destroy them basically to get the manifold off when in the car. Anyone left them off when rebuilding any detrimental effects.

Might wrap them once on to keep the heat in.

Personally I wouldn't bother with them or even wrapping but that is my opinion

Is there anything in close contact with them

I have a dse so wouldn't know exactly

Most cars I work on (nissan) have them removed if corroded and we have no ill effects

I think you are right, they are getting left off. Will make the manifolds easier to put back on.
