Hey Chaps,

Since my last rear headlining became soden and I ripped it out finally got the bits to make a new one. Wasnt up for buying one as it be a pain in the ass to fit due to me roll cage. So went about doing me own, though could do with a little help.

Ive bought some sticky backed 3mm closed cell foam & some speaker box carpet off ebay, enough to do the rear roof & bit of sound insulation else where.

Just not totally sure how to fit the carpet to the foam. My thoughts -

Measure up the foam to the exact size then use spray glue + some heavy duty staples to fit the carpet on then fit the carpet and foam as one peice at the same time.

OR

Fit the foam to the rear then when its dry and solid add the carpet using spray glue and if possible use some staples on corners/curves to keep the carpet from flopping down.

Any reason why it wont work? Anyone got a better idea using the above materials?

Josh.

I would cut the foam to size, test fit then cover with the speaker carpet before final fitting. A heavy duty spray glue should be fine and I would avoid the staples as the glue should be more than enough. Need pics when it's done!

Got to work today, fitting in all the foam. Decided to fit the foam first then the carpet due to me making odd sized bits of foam...

None the less I think it turned out quite well!

Yeah, the 3mm foam is shockingly easy to work with. Presses in really nice and firm, gets all the nice mould lines! lol

Except for some random wireing I didnt want to snip so foam'd over it.

Heavy duty spray glue arrived too, so measuring up the carpet tomorrow.

Put half the carpet in today. Looking good, where as the foam was a treat to work with the carpet is a fricking nightmare.

WILL NOT GO STRAIGHT!!! Managed to make it a little easier by cutting it all into 4 peices and gluing it in. Still got some odd shaped gaps though which is a shame, though did some filling in and doesnt look too shabby.

Will get some pics up tomorrow. Ran out of glue...
