making a V8 Sound better...

ok ive been looking at modifying the exhaust on my 3.9 V8 landy,
ive read a few places that removing all silencers and putting 1 cherry bomb silencer in the centre makes them sound really nice..

is this true? any one else got any opinions or experiences?

Single cherry bomb sounds like a boy racer and is not that pleasant in my opinion. My old V8 had tubular headers (non cat), straight through exhaust with a TD5 back box. Subtle growl at idle, spits and snorts like an F1 racer above 2500rpm, and it's cheap!!!

can you do this and still be ok for mot if your landy had a cat at factory ??

just get a straight through exhaust!

the rear silencer fell off the v8 landy at work...cos the pipe had rusted through. even with the main silencer in place it sounds gorgeous.

What you are suggesting is OK if you dont intend to drive it much, from my experience it is a real PITA after a few miles, especially if you get above certain revs at which point the noise level is uncomfortable and quickly loses its novelty JMHO

I think the 3.9 sounds sweet as it is!

think my 200tdi would sound liek a wet fart if i played about with the exhaust!! how gutted am i after having listen to and rpi i ahd in a while back
