Unfortunately those ****ers that produce cheap copies have done the same.

There is some real subtle manufacturing differences between Mach5's and other cheaper makes.

whats the difference as I have a set that ive always thought where real mine have valve guards also

Real Mach5's will be banded together where as the cheaper challenger wheels are bent over and seam welded from front to back.

Also mach5's are tubed spokes and strong where as the challengers are flat at the back.

Mach5's did come with valve protectors as well. I think you have to ask for them to be welded on though.
