P38A m51 coolant pipe

Hi all just wanted to pick your brains, does anyone know the part number of dimensions for the steel interference fit pipe in the back of the head 1995 M51 engine, the one that the u shaped rubber hose connects to.

It is corroded to ****? Someone else had that issue recently. Trying to remember who. Might have been the guy from Bury?

Yeah corroded to sh1t. So much so it loses about 1/2 Lt of coolant on a 5 mile trip. Need to replace asap

The front main one is available from turner engineering but cant seam to find the back one, as GRRRRRR said one of the members had this go and he found the turner one.

As a last resort, get the old one out and take it to a local engineering company and get one machined up. rRfit with Loctite.

Looks like I'm going to have to machine one up. But it's so corroded it'll be destroyed getting it out. Just wondered if anyone had the OD of the pipe or the part number.

Unfortunately that's the large one at the front 39mm diameter. Will give them a call and see if they do the small one.

It wasn`t me. not had that problem,it was head gasket on mine

I had the same problem long time ago, had to have one made up. Only cost a few quid at local engineers

You wouldn't be able to recall the diameter would you it would save me a load of hassle.

It's the diameter of the hole it fits in you need to be measuring. Fitting needs to be same size or a couple of thou up on that.

I had the U hose pop earlier this year and did post about. Have you thought of trying a breakers for a replacement? Would be cheaper that new.

Yeah thought about breakers but it destroys the tube trying to get them out.
Just wanted a rough diameter of the tube then I can get some thick walled tube ordered up and then turn one out , can't measure mine cause I had to epoxy the upipe back on to stop it leaking as much and now it's only dripping don't want to disturb it till I've got the tube ready to turn one out. When i do I will probably make a couple and take proper dimensions and post up here so others can use them.

Could you ring a supplier see if they’ll measure the u tube for you? It fits on the bit so near enough

Some peeps here have scrappers they might measure for you?

think we just used the U hose internal for a measurement and added a tad
