Lurching Disco

Low speed problems
Hi, I've got a 98 300 TDI Disco auto. At about 1500rpm the engine check light comes on and the engine loses power, I move the the throttle either up or down the light goes out and all is well up to full revs or back to tick over. The problem is making the motor almost undriveable at low speed speed. Any help or ideas would be very welcome

I wonder if it straightforward to rip the electrics out of the later 300tdi Discos, and turn them into reliable diesels again, just like the 200 tdi and early 300tdi.

Has anyone done this?

not sure yu would need to rip them out - shirley - all yu need to do is ignore em and rewire the ign - oh and maybe the alarm.
