Lucky, lucky barpersons

Talking to an engineer called Norman at Primary Fasteners (see rivnut
thread) today. He is a LR nut and owns a Disco 2.

It turns out that most of the company's employees own Disco 2s, even the
lowly production line staff. They are a major supplier to Land Rover, and
when the facelift Disco was being launched in 2002, LR found they had a lot
of pre-facelift Discos they couldn't shift. They had loaded a lot of them
with extras, but as the new model was in the pipeline (and the usual - read
wealthy - customers were prepared to wait and pay for the new model) they
couldn't get rid of them. They invited some of their suppliers to buy them
at a knockdown price just to clear the decks for the new model. Hence a
small engineering firm in the West Midlands has a workforce driving around
in Solihull's best. He wouldn't tell me how much he paid, but he was
chuckling all the time so I guess it was (relatively) peanuts.

Why am I ALWAYS in the wrong job?

My mates dad had a small engineering shop that supplied land rover and was
offered a cheep motor after a factory visit, probably a similar situation.
He turned it down though
