the big day finally came, the elusive Fairey overdrive arrived! Fully refurbished at that! I fully managed to forget about the fact that for the price of the overdrive I could have gotten fully rebuilt R380 and have it installed. So, call me happy!
Regarding installation, I managed to find a manual for the Series one, but not for the Range Rover... Which sucks, especially since I have to build parts of the connection shafts and stuff myself. Probably not such a big deal, the bit and pieces directly linking to the overdrive are there, but with a manual quite difficult. So if anyone has the correct manual, or knows someone who has, that would be really cool!
If not, and even with a manual it would be cool, I am all ears regarding the installation process! If memory serves well, there is the risk of a gear shaft (3rd gear?) moving forward...
Anyways, the initial plan to have it installed before the upcoming Tunisia trip fell through due all the missing bits. And the fact that the transmission tunnel is welded in...
So, overdrive or not, a pretty tall order for parts is coming up: new diff (Detroit Truetrek), new coil springs for the rear, new shocks for the rear, some switches and various other bits that need replacement, new cam shaft and push rods, new timing gear, new water pump (while the mechanic is at it he can replace everything in one go) and maybe a new set of carpets for the interior (the home made stuff suffered quite bit already in the last two years).
