Howdy! Does anyone know if the 22C (split-case) variant of the LT85 gearbox has an oil filter?

I've got an LT85 22c on my new (to me) 1987 v8 110. There's no telling how long it's been since the gearbox oil was changed and it's running a bit noisy. So, I pulled out the trusty workshop manual and parts catalog....

My trouble started with a diagram in the workshop manual showing how to remove the LT85 oil filter -- I couldn't find the bloomin filter. Next I found both the LT85 overhaul guide in the workshop manual and the LT85 parts list in the parts catalog. It seems the workshop manual refers only to the solid case (20C prefix) LT85 while the parts catalog has a mix of both solid- (20C) and split-case (22C).

The parts catalog diagram (see pic) seems to suggest that the filter is only for the 20C, but I'm not sure if I'm reading that right. I'd be grateful if someone could back up my suspicion that the 22C doesn't have an oil filter. What do you think?

In case anyone ever cares, I have it on good authority (fanatic) that there's no filter for the split case LT85 gearbox (i.e. the 22C prefix model):

No there is no filter and you want to change oil like engine oil service, tough as old nails, but oil must be clean.

you mean no filter part from the one in the drain bung good job fanatic well read the manual first!!!! lol

boxes go lt95 then the lt85 then the lt77 then the lt77s then the r380 and the new 6 speed box

Ah I see , I was looking for the filter on my lt95, I had three manuals inlcuding the genuine BL from the 70's and it still doesnt have a picture of where it is , how do I find it???

thanks mate, after reading all the manual (you know how many I have lol) I finally looked in the owners handbook for it and it showed it on the drain bung in there.

None of them show the overdrive though and I luckly found it in an old mag today, you have to fill it untill it come out for the transfer box level hole.

I am gonna be under there a day just trying to find all the bungs! :p
