right heres the story i gtot a petrol disco 1 2ltr with an lt77 gearbox wich is truely knackered

i have a replacement box ( lt77) out of another disco 1 200tdi wich means the input shaft from the flywheel / clutch is a lot shorter than the original one

now my only option is to swap the input shafts to get over this problem but it means a full strip down and rebuild

i cannot find any literature on this nor a procedure so has anyone got any experience with stripping these gearboxes just to swap the shaft or am i in uncharted territory with this

any advice or input would be greatly appreciated at this moment in time as im cacking me pants with the image im gonna split this box tomorrow and evrything is gonna hit the floor with springs n clips n **** vacating the premises at warp speed

what are the numbers as all arent interchangeable ,there are 2 types of cp or input shaft one with 21 teeth one with 22 teeth, you wouldnt have to strip completely but remove 5th gear from layshaft to allow layshaft to move enough to remove cp shaft, held by 32mm nut shaft can be tapped thru gear using copper hammer or such if you are not unlucky if you do attempt it you can phone me and i could advise you as you do it if you wanted

well today i took the knackered box apart and things went from bad to worse i had all the parts labeled numbered and backed up with loads a pics and even slid the gears onto copper tubes in the order they came out to finally get to the part i needed for the new gearbox and then i felt physicaly sick

the primary gear wich is solid state on the input shaft has not sheared all the teeth off its as if theyve melted and took out the first gear on the layshaft with it shattered the first selector wich means i cant use any of it to convert the other box

now seeing as the disco is a petrol 2L and is a 1993 model will the gearbox off the same model but 1995 be a direct fit or will this be another £100 up the swanny

failing this i think were gonna end up breaking this landy for parts so if anyone wants any bits when i announce its demies please send me a pm
