Are the drain plug washers on the gearbox and gearbox extention the same?

I don't really want to drain the lot only to find that the one on the filter plug is different from the one on the bottom side of the box :eek:

Actually, it might not be as daft as it first sounds :D:D:D

Never measured them, but the ones on mine are physically different. The one on the side of the main box has a copper washer, The one under the ext. gearbox is made of a thick gasket paper. From memory alone the extension plug might be bigger. Not sure.

Thanks James. I have been advised to leave the filter/screen plug well alone!

Would that be your considered opinion too?

Thanks James.

I think that I might remove it and give it a paraffin wash, as it has probably never been out in 25 years!

Can't do any harm, can it?

If it's anything like mine was you'll want to take it out.

Just treated mine to a new plug and filter. I always remove it when I change the gearbox oil, and I haven't had any problem, but I thought the threads on the plug were looking tired.
Pleased to say the filter never has any metal filings on it though, its always perfectly clean :)
