how big a job is it to change the output shaft on a lt77 box

I presume you want to do so because of worn splines? Output shaft is part of the mainshaft so requires a strip down of the gears, synchro hubs and bearings.

have you taken it apart and looked at the state of the splines? Is it deffo the gearbox?

yes i have just put it in my landie the box has been modified to fit to a nissan motor the splines were well worn but i had to get it back on the road

It's going to be a strip and rebuild then, or modify a new unit, make sure you fit the cross drilled transfer box shaft and/or oil splash plate to prevent wear in the future
