LT230 front flange seal kit STC 4379

So I have noticed the Disco 2 is marking its territory , on investigation it looks like it is the transfer box front flange that is the area where the oil is leaking.

Looking at parts lists, it is an individual seal number (FTC4939) that may be the cause, but i also notice there is front flange and seal kit (STC4379) that is also sold.

Why is there a flange kit being sold? is it a case of the seal wears against the front flange running diameter and that causes the leak?

It can do. I'd guess it depends on mileage, quality of original fitting, or frequency of oil changes as to whether you need the hit or just the seal. I'd also, if it has one on the D2, change the felt washer too.

The kit adds choice and value .. which way the value goes depends on if you need it .. or not!
