Hi just refitted my powered steering box after recon by Autosteer .recommend this firm for speedy turnround and reasonable price.also changed atf in gearbox even though it was changed about 1000ks back and the difference was amazing a much smoother change with no hang ups 4th to 5th The ATF is called Kerax Hyperdrive KX mineral ATFDexron 11 now in my ex mil 90 .Give it a go'
John.

When I had an LT77 (ex-MOD 90 2.5NA D) I found that the gear change was a sweet as anything as long as the ATF was in good condition, if allowed to go more than a couple of years then the deterioration was very noticeable. Of course it might be that an expensive synthetic ATF would have kept the change sweet for longer but I had a big tub of mineral ATF and it was the work of only a few minutes to drain & re-fill so I went with annual changes.
When my R380 was new the gearchange was awful but LR were unwilling to consider the gearchange at fault until at least 20K miles had been covered, I explained that with my usage the vehicle would be out of warranty by then they just shrugged! I started using a fully synthetic oil which helped slightly but 10-years later it was still not a very nice gearchange and it was one of the reasons I decided to change to auto.
