Hi, 255/55/19.
Cheers

thks, so in comparison they are the same circumference , there should be a weight marking on the side of the tyres , ie 109 or 111 , or maybe something else, can u read them plse

indeed does look like it’s down slightly , but can be several things and indeed worthwhile at least ensuring what the heights are

if u put it into normal height , measuring from the centre of the wheel to the bottom of the wheel arch can u tell me what each wheel is in mm plse

just gives me a better idea ref the suspension

many thks

Hi, 109Y

Just checked the heights as suggested
NSR 485mm
OSR 485mm
NSF 480mm
OSF 470mm

Can't believe the rears are the same level having sat over-night

Thanks for your time on this, very much appreciated.

Do any of the settings on the car need to be changed to reflect bigger wheels?

hi

my first concern is the rating or ur tyres , D3 should be 111t and urs is 109 , u need to get them checked out by a tyre company to ensure there ok, if u look in ur drivers doors it will tell u what the recommended axle weight is and what tyre weight rating u req

D3 weighs just over 2.7 ton

with the suspension in normal height , it should be in mm

front 465mm
rear 485mm

ur allowed plus or minus 10mm on each wheel

next thing to ensure it’s holding air is

put it into off road height , drive back abit , then forward , into normal height , remeasure wheels like u did before

pull fuse F26 and leave it overnight , this will see if any corner drops, it has to be air tight first before touching any recalibration, the measure again and reinstall fuse f26

because ur tyres have such a small wall the ride will be harder instead of having a sidewalk size like 60 or 70

they will be extremely easy to damage on any rough terrain , but assume u won’t be taking it off road due to the tyre size

old and new tyres worked out the same circumference, so nothing needs changing , but i’m afraid the ride will not be very good because of the new tyres

hope that helps abit

Thanks for this, again, really much appreciated. I have spoke with the chap I bought the wheels from who told me tyres (Pirelli Scorpion PZero) is what the tyre fitters recommended, £180 a corner fitted.

Obviously he didn't know what he was on about.
I have checked the heights again this morning
NSR 485mm
OSR 485mm
NSF 470mm
OSF 470mm

I will try the fuse 26 trick this evening and see how it looks in the morning.

ur more than welcome , it’s also for ur ins which i assume you’ve advised that you’ve replaced them

they will normally get u to check the badge inside ur drivers door to ensure they are suitable, ie axle weight ,

always on the side of caution , christ £180 each , serious amount of cash, which is also such a shame spending over £700 quid and will be really bad off road due to the small sidewall it will either dent ur rims or puncture the tyre , also giving u a very bad ride

shame he didn’t advise u properly , u will notice a massive difference in ride quality with bigger sidewalled tyres

those tyres are rated for 150mph , wonder how many land rovers he’s been in, lol

height measurements are within spec , indeed try pulling the fuse in normal height , then waiting overnight , measuring them before and after , that way at least u will know if there’s a leak anywhere

plse let us know how u get on

It might as well be on solid rubber tyres, for all the flex those tyres have got, hideous!

+1 - OP - you NEED to be 100% sure that these wheels and tyres are legal for use on the vehicle - depending on how "stroppy" the "authorities" got, you could be looking at some serious charges - viz:- breach of construction and use / no insurance etc. ( obviously IF they ARE legal, then the worst you will get is warning off the fashion police :D )

Bit strong young man, they are original land rover wheels so someone further up the food-chain disagrees

He's trying to help you - they look wrong for a reason

hi

I share this concern - unless the tyres are right for the vehicle, you could be in a world or pain - for the record I will say that I wouldn't wish said pain on anyone, but you, as the owner/driver of the car are ultimately responsible for it being roadworthy.

I have just read that the weight ratio on these wheels are 900kg when the recommended ratio is 940kg, that may explain some of the issues. They were originally on a RR Sport.

Just checked inside the drivers door, it only goes up to 19".

Looks like I need to replace the wheels and go for 19" and try and sell the one I have to a RR Sport owner. Bloody motors.

Here you go.

many thks, but i thought that badge also showed the axle weights

wonder if it’s under the bonnet , got my owners manual somewhere and will have a look

that’s bugged me now where that badge is for the weights, lol

just looked in my D3 owners manual

front axle weight 1450kg
rear axle weight 1875kg

tyre rating 111 & 112

So the wheels are ok for the front axle but not the rear and the tyres are completely wrong.
The BarclayCard is gonna take another hit

indeed, ur tyre sidewalls are not 111 rated for the D3 so not suitable , don’t know what size tyres u can get on ur rims

but if u want a better ride you’re have to increase the tyre side wall size and of course ensure there weight rated accordingly

No, just strip everything out except the drivers seat, put the suspension in low mode, and try it over the 1/4 mile at Santa pod!

ur not wrong there with them being such a low profile tyre , never understood in why low profiles are fitted on 4x4s as they can’t really be used off road or for that matter any rough terrain

Had the local 'Indy' check her out and apart from recalibrating the heights on each corner, everything else is tip-top. Already bought a set of 19" identical to the original, just need to get some tyres then hopefully everything back to normal.

Thanks for everyone's input and comments, much appreciated.

Cheers
