I have just purchased a 200,000 mile 1995 4.0l P38 Range rover witch has a LPG conversion. I don't really know much about what that conversion entails engine side but i know it can be dangerous. I am very much interested in doing maintenance at home but is that less of an option with the LPG? What changes will have been made to the engine? is it safer to just have it removed? Many thanks.

Based on past experience with 94mm bore RV8's (all except the original 3.5ltr.) I would remove or disable the LPG kit & run the lump on the fuel it was designed for.

Or..... if it has run on LPG OK for years and is still going strong, just go with the flow and enjoy the fuel savings.
LPG is fine (IMHO). I had mine on my 4.6HSE for 60k miles and all was ok.
Had singlepoint LPG on my Merc 500SEL limo for 5 years and had no issues there either.
Letting it run on Petrol till it is up to temperature is a kindness (I think) to valves etc.
Good luck and best wishes.

The RV8's seem unaffected by LPG my V8 can start from cold on the stuff..
and its had a pretty old fashioned kit on in 2003 and an updated sequential system fitted in 2009.

so its had gas most of its life without being affected so

As said above if its running well leave it alone..

As long as the cooling system is maintained there shouldn't be an issue..

My V8 has had it on since 25k it has 120k+ on it now with no issue..

So i imagine all those failures are due to lack of cooling system maintenance..

Not in my case, or that of a mate's, both 3.9 variants.
My current steed is the original 3.5 which isn't known for liner problems, but I still wouldn't use LPG again.
Good luck to those whose RV8's are trouble-free on LPG, but if the worse happens ...
