my clutch pedal pushes in nearly half way before it operates. is there anything i can adjust or do to make clutch pedal operate sooner and how. the clutch is not slipping or dragging.

mine is near to the floor before it operates. has been for a while now, the clutch isn't slipping either

OOOHs me thinks you guys might soon have some problems with that....sounds as though the assembly's are on the way or the bracket,(if its an L series) or the slave cylinder if its a Td4..
I think they have both been covered before...
D

mine is the dreaded L series. when you say bracket you talking clutch pedal bracket? i have new master / slave cylinders ready to go in when i can find the time.

Yep thats the one as Methos said its on the gearbox..check it when you change the assembly, as mine broke..it might be worth changing anyway, and also get a new plastic retaining clip...and as far a the dreaded L series..they are probably the best of the bunch..well engine wise..good luck. oh and they are pretty easy to change..if you havent got it already get the Rave CD from Muddy oval..its free and it explains everything.

Typed L series by mistake:eek:

meant to be K series engine. is the clutch bracket set-up the same?

well got home and off to asda for the weekly shop, bloody clutch pedal went all wonky, the thing went flat to the floor no resistance, pushed it from from the bloody roundabout to a clear area, had look underneath and found the push rod rod had pulled out:confused:

got it back in and managed to get it home keeping the foot on the clutch pedal.

so tomorrow, new master slave cylinder going in.

goes to show don't put off jobs:rolleyes:

matts, just wondering how much you paid for your master sleeve cylinder cause i went to main dealer and got it at trade price for £118 but also in that price was a clutch rubber at £4 and i thought that was a bit steep, maybe i'm wrong. i never tried to shop anywhere else for it.

hi les rs

paid £127 inc vat from a local parts shop. tis steep. but my main dealer is fair bit away and would cost as much in petrol than anything else.

Woooh guys Bearmach were selling them for about 50.00 quid + Vat..and the bracket was about 7.00 +vat...
Also delivery is only a max of 2 days normally.

Should have asked on here first....
D:(

put my sleeve cylinder in this morning, took me 1 hour an 10 minutes, handy enough job. only thing i had to take off was a cylinder held on with a 10 mill bolt just above where the pipe connects at top of gear box. when i had old sleeve cylinder out i noticed that it was leaking so i new then that i had a fault. everything sound now, clutch pedal is sitting just where it should be and operating as should be.

got mine done today, slave and master cylinder disintegrated in my hand on removal, problem solved. new bracket in old one was looking ropey.:)

now i can concentrate on getting my new centre console/cubby box wired in:D
