Hi first off am new to all this so please be gentle!!!

Having just recently been able to afford my first defender 90 td5 and at the risk of sounding like a complete pratt could someone explain the low ratio box and diff lock.

i'm wanting to do a little green laning no madness just gentle green laning

Low Ratio box? when would i use this?
Diff lock high and low? When would i use this?

All your help is greatly received.... Thanks in advance....:smash:

Simples,

High range is for when you wants to fast,
Low range is for when you wants to go slow,
Diff lock off is for normal use,
Diff lock on is the one you try just after you get stuck in the mud :)

Oh, and welcome :)

Ahhh sounds so simple when its put like that....
Diff lock would only be used if you get into a sticky situation then...

And thank you....

I have stickers all over my Land Rover saying DON'T ENGAGE DIFF LOCK WHILE TRAVELLING AT SPEED! If you do not have these stickers take it as advice. otherwise you will be wondering what the funny smell is and why your tranny box aint workin' :D Yeah so when engaging diff lock REMEMBER when your outter the sh!t put it back into high or low.
