He is pushing his luck . It's a private sale, if you cant find it you cant find it. He is trying to con you, into either more money off, or he's realised he can't afford it and is looking for a way to return it. He hasn't got a leg to stand on in a private sale. Buyer beware.
HOWEVERRRRRRRRRRR........ if you wish to be nice to this chancer, you can give him the details of the garage who did your services. If they are feeling nice, they can tell him which services they did, and when. If he is REALLY bothered he can look at previous owners locations and phone around the local indys to see if they serviced it.
If amongst all your receipts for work done, there are receipts from previous owner/s ,you can point those out to him. Thus helping find the garages that did previous work and likely the service.
Apart from which FSH is not overly important on a 14yr old veh. Proof of work done and a good examination of the veh, are much more important.
In summary, he's pushing his luck, if he wants his money back. If you can afford to give him it back, just call his bluff.

P.s 18years old and you've just sold a Disco with loads of receipts and bought an L322. Wish I had insurance like that at 18 ;)
