Lost Locking Wheelnut Key. Which One Do I need?!

Discovery 3 Same locking nuts as Discovery 4

Hi Everyone,

I have no locking wheelnut key and need to get my wheels off.
I do not know which key I need. Does anyone know how many different keys there are? These are the factory domed nuts with four slots down the sides with lettered keys.

I'm not familiar with the D3/D4, but if as you say they are coded with a letter, then one would assume there are up to 26 variations.
I would suggest that you get yourself to a Land Rover main dealer and see what they can do to help, either by physically testing each variant or they might have such details on the computerised system. Take proof of ownership with you and make sure that you ask them for any additional security information which as an owner you should have.
The information shouldn't cost anything, the cost of a replacement wheelnut key, well that's a different kettle of fish.

Go to the dealer save the agro. They where very helpful with my dads RR tried every single one they had (40+!) Eventually found mine, was £10 inc vat

On my D2 the code was actually stamped on the spare wheel locking nut.

If you find the code just google out using the code "Discovery locking wheel nut key code ..." and the web is full, for example for code J which seems what you need is https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Locking-...220634835074?_trksid=p2349526.m4383.l4275.c10 but double check with your code

Once you have removed them, throw them in the bin they are utter ****e and will let you down on a dark wet night with your best duds on.
Theft not really an issue as takes a brave man to mess with d3/4 wheels as even with the ign is off they adjust the suspension, so can easily slip off the jack.

Thanks for all your help chaps. I took your advice and went to my local main dealer.
They wanted £90 to ascertain which key I needed so I declined. I have subsequently discovered there are 20 lettered keys one of which will fit my locking nut. I am now awaiting delivery of a complete set which will save me a lot of time driving/phoning around
to find someone who will sort it for free.

My set of keys has now arrived and the issue is sorted. I am keeping them to help firends and have warned my mates and anyone reading this to make a record of their key code. It should be in the vehicle documentation but, asking around, does not appear to be so in every case.
