Lost 4th and reverse gears last night....

Looked everywhere along my travels but couldn't see them :doh:

So I left for work in my 300tdi, reversed out of the street fine, pulled away fine although second gear was a bit hit and miss and then it came to fourth which I couldn't even find. Pulled up and found I had no reverse either
Wasn't like that when I went out earlier in the day.

Anyway jump in it this morning fiddling about and manage to find every gear!?

What's all that about?

It sounds as though the bias plate has broken. Have a look at the top of the box from inside the truck, you should be able to tell.

That happened to me a few weeks back, driving along, and loose 2nd and 4th (never tried reverse) so kept going with 1st, 3rd and 5th and after a few miles got them back again.

I decided to ignore it... i may regret that decision in the future
