I am loosing power in 5th when I hit anything that resembles a slight incline or head wind at about 50mph, also it struggles at the top end of the revs in other gears, it was only serviced a couple of months ago, today I sent to check pipes they all seem Ok n checked my air filter incase it was full of crap, that was Ok but the pipe that goes from filter to turbo had quite a bit of oil in it and this had gone on to metal bit on to of filter, is my turbo on its way out? Is a 200tdi defender engine with roughly 105k on it, see pic below, I apologise now if pic is sideways keeps doing it when I download from my phone.
Forgot to mention my exhaust had dropped slightly from header, I've knocked iy back up n tightened clamp best I can but it is still blowing out slightly.

The down pipe is meant to have two bolts at the bottom where it meets the engine block to stop it dropping

Its a 200 conversion I think so might not be a full 200 exshaust system,

Have you and black smoke? If so that means you have enough fuel getting to it,
If you have no smoke then check the little pipe from the turbo to the top of the injection pump for splits, if its ok then maybe check the diaphragm is free to move up and down ( you will need to take the 4 screws out of the top but mark its position befor you move it
Do you have a boost gauge?

Best thing would be to clean the pipes best you can and monster the oil in them.

Also have you checked the pump timing?

Are you sure lift pump is working.

Sounds like either that or fuel blockage somewhere, try a new fuel filter and check theres no air getting in the pipes/leaks.

it's a defender 200tdi that's been fitted, the pipe is full stainless and only has a clamp as far as i can see holding it on, which was a bitch to try n tighten up!!
Don't have black smoke but greyish i can smell burning oil when i fire her up but thats it. Don't have a boost guage n wouldn't have a clue what to do with pump timing lol

will check the little pipe when i get chance n see if that's ok as for diaphram thingy that will have to wait as no time at the mo! :)

Use your winch to pull it everywhere now it works ;)

only did all filters n oil a couple of months ago but i will see if any crap comes out of fuel filter from the drain thingy, n how do i tell if lift pump is working n which is it lol?

checked the filter seems fine, the exhaust has dropped a 1/4 of an inch again but that isn't making it loose power like it is, came to work on motorway again today and my foot was flat to the floor on what is the slightest incline in the world and was doing about 55 (cant say exactly what speed its doing cos my cable is missing) in 5th i could get 70 out of it at a push, once it levels off it pulls again unless i hit a head wind, think i've sussed which is the lift pump, how do i check if thats not working correctly? ive also checked the little pipe on top of turbo that seems fine, looks like its a trip to a garage if i cant suss it myself :(
