loss of power

Driving to work this am, noticed loss of power, couldn't get above 50mph, no engine noises. Revved in neutral ok to redline, lots of black smoke - a bit sluggish. No miss fire or chugging, any ideas gratefully received. also got a very unreliable fuel gauge since replacing the fuel pump - any ideas on that one!!!!!!

It might help if you gave us a clue what you have and it's age.

Disco TD5 2000, I have been loosing water, I think from the water pump area?

you need to cure water leak first and bleed system on top hose ,will run poor if water level low ,check plug on tuel pump as is fuel sender too,remove pump again and check fitted right floats okay ,it works properly moving float up down give time for it to respond

i would say air flow meter, split turbo hose or stuck egr valve
