My 51 plate TD4 intermittently loses power at 3000 rpm, usually while on motorways doing approx 70mph. The power will come back after around 10 seconds or when I change gear. It is likely to happen while ascending steeper gradients.

I've already searched this but can't find a definitive answer. Some people suggest turbo failure, MAF sensor failure amongst many other possible causes.

Other than the problem described, the car handles and performs fine atm and nobody would know there's a problem unless they took it out on a motorway run. Anyone know what the problem is most likely to be?

Have a look at the sticky "Td4 Lack of power at 70mph - fixed !"

I had exactly the same problem with my Freelander 1 L-series Diesel when I noticed a small fuel drip on the ground where I parked. I found one of the rubber leak off pipes perished so replaced it easily and cheaply. Hey presto - I can now redline the old Freelander without it missing a beat. I can only assume that under load, air was somehow being sucked back to the injectors through the perished leak off pipes.
