Hi, new to the forum, but have had Land Rover Discovery for a couple of years then now have Freelander 2 SD4 HSE 2013. Don't really do a lot of long distance driving in it, mainly local miles but have noticed after doing a long drive, mainly motorway, 50 miles or more, when I come to stop either at lights or queueing traffic I have no power when I accelerate to move away and then after a few seconds it picks up as normal. Doesn't happen on short journeys, always after a long journey. At first I connected it to using the air conditioning, but this weekend the same thing happened (air conditioning was off) after driving about forty miles I stopped in queueing traffic and when I put my foot down to move away the car struggled to pick up speed again. When I did the return journey I had no problem at all except when I turned the ignition on the car seem to shudder slightly as it fired up. Any suggestions what may be causing this? No codes are coming up at any time.

Manual or auto gearbox?

When the fault happens try manually selecting gears to see if it still happens. Get it to pull away in first to see if it moves.
Thanks for getting back - I will try that next time I am on a long run - I always assumed an automatic was in first gear when you set off anyway but I will definitely give it a try

If yer stationary when pulling away it will select 1st. If yer rolling slowly it will select 2nd to pull away as its already got some momentum. Well is does on my FL2 which is what most autos will do.
