Thing is stuff like this jumps the pond, hopefully we will never get to the stage where the gov decides to do something like this here but you could see them doing something equally as drastic.

The frogs did it a few years back (on a voluntary basis) and it was a great success. The tax they got back from the increase in new and nearly new car sales more than paid for the outlay of buying the scrappers in the first place.

bolxxxks to that someone needs to get that idea snuffed out before some green party tree hugger gets wind of it over here and gets it through parliament and ruins our fun i hate any idea that threatens a mans freedom to choose specially when it comes to motors etc problem is once the ball starts rollin it'll only be a matter of time before it happens

bloody hell ! if gordon B sees that he will intoduce it here ! the only difference is he will charge the vehicle owner removal and scrapping charges and tax on top of that for climate change off set programs to offset the carbon in breaking and melting down of all the vehicles.
there will be no payment for your 'scrapper' but huge charges to do it !!! and then when youve bought a new motor you will find out the tax band it fits into is three times what it was on your old car due to it being produced after 2001.
you dont think it could happen here ? dont bet on it, and if it did dont expect people to rise up in arms cos the majority of white british people will p*ss and moan then go out and buy a new car forgeting all about the erosion of their freedoms.
