Hi All,
Anyone out there in Gloucestershire got any springs they are looking to get rid of?
In particular, I am looking for:-
Standard Original LR V8 rangerover rears.
Standard Original LR Diesel Rangerover or disco front rear springs.
Don't mind if they are rusty etc, as long as they are the standard springs - pref original LR, but not important.
I'm having trouble with the Britpart "Yellow" suspension kit.
Has anyone else tried this kit on a V8 classic rangie?
How did you get on?
Did you complain?
What was the response?
Back springs are fine when on the go - but are too short, and pop out of the spring pans when you jack the chassis up (pretty dangerous IMO)
I'm not running the self leveller.
Front springs are WAY too hard, and the suspension is always in a nose up attitude - even when unladen. It understeers like a bitch now in the wet.
With a heavy load in the back, the front is fully extended, and the steering is dreadful.
They would probably be fine with the (Much) heavier diesel engine, or in a 90, which has a heavier front. But with the lighter V8, it's a nightmare. Interestingly, they spec the same kit for the RR, Disco and 90!
Yeah yeah yeah - I know - Britpart Sh!tpart.. I was persuaded to shell out for them by Tim Fry - not too happy about their response right now either - even when I took the car to them to show them, I got a less than concerned response. Which came as a suprise, as they have been very good up till now. Price wasn't fantastic either...
So I'm trying to find a less suicidal front suspension setup - and want to spend a little time playing with the standard springs to see what I can muster up... Thus the request for old springs so I can do some comparisons with spring rates etc... I'll end up buying new ones anyway - TF have at least promised to swap them for others of the same value - but I want to play with some old ones first to see what it's like.
Any out there waiting to be taken away?
I'll pass on any info I find.
Drop me a line here...
Ta,
Mike.
